What's inside my mojo bag ?

Being a journalist in 2020 is not the same as the early 2000s. All Carrie Bradshaw needed was her computer and her diary. Things have changed and technology has evolved from then which means my skills have to adapt to the new era. Journalism has moved to a multi-media platform and less of the newsroom environment. The journalism department at my university made sure to equip us by giving us brand new gadgets. These gadgets will be helpful for future purposes and for reporting stories that can be shared online.

The mojo kit had 6 gadgets cutely packaged in a string bag, namely a USB flash drive, an external hard drive, and a tripod. I was most excited about getting the volkano rhythm series ultra-powerful headphones because I don’t have headphones/headsets. That made it hard to work. I could not listen to music or edit my audios at the school computer lab. The bass of the headphones are one of my favourite things because I enjoy lisyening to super loud music and that extra 808 is exactly what I need. They come with an aux cable that is compatible with devices that have an auxiliary hole, the only thing I do not like is that they are not Bluetooth compatible. We are living in a wireless age so can we at least catch up to that train.

ultra-powerful headphones with powerful bass and crystal-clear sound make them a force to be reckoned with.

Another Gadget I got was the Volkano UTHIUM POLY power bank that is 10 000 MAH. It has 2 charging ports and has a Type C input which is something I have never seen in a power bank. The power bank charges the phone until it is full and does not lose a lot of battery life itself. The power bank can be used for charging your phone on the go, phones have become a part of us we go with them everywhere and this Volkano power bank comes in handy when you have drained your battery life. It is very portable and can easily be kept in your bag unlike carrying your regular charger and plug, the size of the power bank makes it convenient for travel and storage. It recharges more than 500 times and comes with a standard USB CORD; the cord is very short which means you must lift it up when you want to charge and use your phone which is a con for me. I use my normal cord that came with my phone so I can put it down and lift the phone only.

 -The gorilla pod (tripod)
makes it easier to keep the camera steady

The gorilla pod (tripod) starter kit was something I really needed I could not shoot videos for my assignments because I struggled with the placement of the camera. The gorilla pod came with a standard tripod the box did not descript the length of it. It is very small but portable enough for my digital camera. The box did not include a user manual or demonstrations of how to use it outside the box. I struggled to place the camera because I had no idea that you just screw it on the tripod. I had a bit of a blonde moment, but I figured it out. You can use it for a torch, digital camera, and iPhones or Android devices.

The 4 Port USB hub by Volcano.

It connects up to 4 devices and is compatible with both Apple and Windows devices. You can use it for the keyboard and mouse, external hard drives. I honestly cannot critique this device because I haven’t really used it as I have no need to right now.

The mojo kit also included a San Disk Cruzer Blade USB. It has up to 64 gigs of space, to store documents music, and any compressed files you would like to store on it. You can also move those files from one PC to another.

Moving on to bigger space we also received a 1 terabyte external hard drive by WD elements.  Basic storage “massive capacity in a small enclosure” can store up to 1 trillion bytes of data. Its contents included a USB cable and a quick install guide. You can store up your computer data in case of theft of PC or a software malfunction. I was glad that they included a user guide I feel like every gadget should have one.  I have nothing bad to say because an external hard drive is there to make things easier. Overall I enjoyed the kit and they will be of good use in my digital media career.
